Soy yogurt - can anyone suggest a brand?

Ok, I've been able to give up skim milk and soda and all sorts of other things, but I thought I could hold on to my yogurt. Unfortunately I have been having a terrible problem with bloating lately and I think it's time for me to try the soy yogurt. I usually eat fat-free flavored yogurt with the fruit mixed in. I can't stand the kind where the fruit is at the bottom. Does anyone have any suggestions of any brands that I can try? I tried Stonyfield yogurt (regular yogurt, not soy) once and really didn't like the taste. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Personally, I've liked all the flavors of Silk and Whole Soy brands that I've tried. I also tried O'Soy, and thought it was disgusting! But I know everyone has different tastes. Good luck finding something you like! Now that I've gotten used to it, soy yogurt really doesn't taste that different from dairy yogurt for me!

I've been looking for soy yogourt, not too hard i have to admit, but haven't found it at my usual grocery store. I live in Ontario, east of Toronto, and usually shop at Loblaws. Any idea where i can find it? SHould it be there and i've just missed it somehow?

I own a Yogourmet yogurt maker and wrote to the company and asked if I could make soy yogurt in it. Here was their response:
"You may indeed make yogurt using soy milk. The yogurt obtained will however be less firm than the one made using cow milk... the more fat there is in the milk, the firmer the yogurt will be."

Now, I have the yogurt maker, but from what I've heard you can make it yourself by using your oven and turning on the light in it (for heat). I use the Yogourmet starter purchased from the Health food store. It's also available online, just put it into search.

I've had Jersy Farms Soygurt and loved it...I was so excited too when I found out that our little town actually carried it! I got it at a Co-op, so not sure where you could find it in Ontario...I'm sure if we have it here, you can find it there!

and it did not come out. It got very tart and tangy, but didn't thicken at all. I was pretty disappointed...

Silk & Whole Soy are my favorite brands. I think Silk tastes more like the ones you like (FF w/ fruit mixed in). I love their lime! And the Stoneyfield O'Soy - yuck.

Do you know if they make a fat free version of any of the Silk or Whole Soy yogurts? I found the Silk brand at my regular grocery store but it's not fat free. I bought some anyway but haven't tried just yet. Thanks for your help again everyone!

I use the Silk all the time with no problems. I just checked and it is 160 calories, 20 fat calories, or about 13% fat - that's fine.

Okay, now Val and I are jealous. "Handy Shopper"? Is that the software? Where did you get it? Do I go to Best Buy for that? Why didn't I hear about this before I made up my Christmas List? When he hears this, Santa's not going to be happy with you, Mags!

Do you have a PDA? (ie, Palm Pilot) If so, you can download HandyShopper for it. I love this program! Check it out here: web page

One time I was in the store using it, and this lady stopped me and was asking me about it. I gave her the web address to check it out - right in the middle of the store! LOL

No, I don't have a palm pilot. I don't even know what it does! Remember me? I'm the one who's computer illiterate!

The shopper thing sounds really cool, though.

Mags,
Do you have a palm pilot? I got mine a year ago and have liked it, but now I wish I would have waited because the ones that take pictures looks really cool. What an easy way to carry around a camera!

I LOVE this program. But, it was kinda confusing at first. It took me awhile to figure out how to get it to work properly. The instructions weren't very clear. So, if you have any questions, just let me know. I've been using HS for a couple of years now.

At first it's kind of a pain. You have to enter EVERYTHING you shop for in there. But once you do that - piece of cake! I have mine sorted by aisle, and as I put something in the cart, it disappears. My list literally disappears AND I never have to go back to look for something. Did I mention I love this program? LOL

Oh and you can also group. For example, I have Grocery Store as a category. Then under that I've got about 5 different stores I buy grocery stuff at (main store, health food store, Sam's, etc.). Each store has it's own 'checklist'.

Also, I have a main category for Dept. Stores, where I have lists for Target, Walmart, etc., just like under Grocery Stores.

I don't know if that makes sense or not, but it will once you use it!

I had a Palm PDA. I got it about 4 years ago? Then last year I upgraded to a Sony Clie. Yeah, the ones that take pics sound cool - maybe next upgrade, huh?

I love having a PDA though - I put everything on there too.

I think it has to do with the OCD side effect of IBS.

Oh yeah - did I mention you can also play video games on PDA's too.

The home shopper sounds great. I tried to download it but it said the file was corrupted. If you have any suggestions to walk me through the process I would appreciate it. I have never downloaded to my palm. My friend got a sony clie, but is frustrated with it and has never used it. Do you like it better than Palm?

Actually, I love my Clie. I never had a problem with the other, but I liked how the color showed better on the Clie - that's why I switched. I think they both worked great though.

I just downloaded it now. I just realized I don't have the latest version anyway.

I downloaded the .zip file, then used WinZip to unzip it.
There were 4 .prc files.

Go into your desktop software (Palm Desktop), and there should be an install icon on the left. Click that. A window pops up and prompts you to select the files to install. Choose the 4 .prc files. Click Done. Next time you do a Hot Sync, it will install on your PDA.

Make sense? If not, just let me know.

Thanks Mags. I think I will take this info to work as my hot sync is hooked up to that computer, and I'll see if my coworker who is more palm literate can help me complete the process with your instructions.
Thanks so much. I'm sure I'll have questions about using it later. It would be so nice not to have to worry about forgetting my shopping list.

Bev,
The other great thing is that if you know anyone else with one they can beam you their information-sometimes games too. For me it is great because my coworker beamed me a whole bunch of agency names and phone numbers which saved me alot of time putting them in myself.

I don't know where to get one cheap. But, Chris bought both of them, so maybe that could be considered cheap! LOL I got my Clie at Circuit City, I think. If not that, Best Buy.

If you do get a game, Bejeweled is so addicting! Chris and I actually fought over it. But, it kept me company during my prep for my colonoscopy! And, I was in there long enough to beat Chris's high scores. hehehe

Bejeweled is great. I have it on our PC. I got my Palm at Office Depot and it came with extra memory. My friend got her Clie at Best Buy.
