just wondering, for anyone who uses this. how many teaspoons/tablespoons did you stabilize at? i have kinda weird IBS...i rarely get constipated or have diarrhea, but i always have cramping/bloating/gas. i have had NO bloat for a week, very little gas and still a bit of cramping, but i am not sure whether what i am at now (2 T) is a "stable" dose. any help is appreciated

I'm just going by intuition here that you can stay right where you are. Add a little more for travelling or if you've been sick or something.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

In my opinion psyllium husk is better. It helps with IBS-D and IBS-C too. Irreplaceable supplement.

Not everyone (not me, actually) but I'm amazed at how few people can tolerate it.

not me either! psyllium does not work for everyone.. it causes MANY problems for me, including way more bloating and pain than my IBS ever did...i am surprised anyone can tolerate it either.

I stablized at 2 teaspoons per day -- I think it's whatever works for you. Once it was really working, I stopped upping the dose, though I do cut it in half if I miss a few days and work back up.

I just started taking the acacia fiber on Sunday and I haven't been feeling too good since then a lot of gas and cramping. I've been taking 1 teaspoon twice a day. The directions say to gradually increase the dosage until stabilized but how long should I give it before I start increasing my dosage? I don't want to increase it to quickly. Any input would be great! Thanks!

i started at 1 tsp, then increased by 1/2 tsp i think once a week for a couple weeks, then same dose twice a week, until i got to 2T which is where i have stabilized. it takes your body a little time to get used to the fiber being there, which is why you have to gradually introduce more and more. stick with it!
