I haven't been on the boards for a long time but just had to share something with ya'll.

I went for my first colonoscopy Wednesday and I was freaking out about the prep. Just wanted to let you know some of the tips I got and used that really, really helped.

I used the half/litely.

Be sure it's chilled but not icy.

Use a small cup with lid and straw. A small cup makes it look like less.

I sucked on a lemon drop while drinking from the straw to cut the awful taste. It really worked.

Instead of drinking an 8oz glass every ten minutes I drank an 8oz glass every 30 to 45 minutes. Once I took an hour break. It helped immensely. At least one glass had time to settle down before drinking another one. I never got nauseated or crampy this way. Of course, I cleared this with my doc first.

I used vaseline & Northern soft toilet paper.

It took longer doing it this way but helped me get through it.

The colonoscopy itself was a breeze. I didn't know anything happened until it was over.

I hope this info helps someone for their next prep.

Hey Barbie,

It is to nice to see your beautiful face! I hope you are well. How many grandchildren do you have now? Do you still keep in touch with Bev? If so, tell her I said hello. I still miss you both here.

Thanks for the great advice. I just had my first colonscopy last year and I wish I had thought of drinking from a straw and the lemon drops. I did mix lemonaide crystal light with mine and it helped a little but I think the lemon drop would be better.

Take care,

Hi Janey,

I've been doing quite well. How are you?

My Mom (90 yrs old) had a malignant tumor in her colon removed last August. She had part of her colon removed and has a colostomy bag. I quit my job to take care of her. She is home now and able to get around with a walker and actually doing pretty good. Anyway, it keeps me pretty busy.

I have two granddaughters. Rissa is 5 and Ashley is 3. I adore them.

Yes, I still keep in touch with Bev. I'll tell her you said hello.

Take care

I am glad to hear that your Mother is doing ok. She is lucky to have you to take care of her.

I can't believe that Rissa is 5. It seems like yesterday when she was born. Time goes by so quickly.

I am well. Just moved to Maryland a few months ago so I am closer to my family which is nice. My oldest daughter is expecting her first child in Aug. I am so excited to be a grandmother I can hardly wait.

Life is good!
