Can ANY of you out there eat salad? I'm really curious -- because my GI specialist, when he initially diagnosed my IBS years ago, and I was in total denial and said I couldn't have IBS because I eat salad, told me there are a lot of people with IBS who tolerate salad well -- and that I am apparently one of them!

Is this really true? Can any of you guys eat salad? I think, way back then in the doctor's office, I THOUGHT I could eat salad -- I was too stupid to realize the salad could have been one of the causes of my attacks -- DUH -- and now I can't go near the stuff.

Everyone who can eat salad with no GI irritation raise your hands.

Bev

I don't have problems with it when I eat it with other safe stuff. On it's own - forget it!

Had a bad attack from it once and have been too scared to try it again.

I eat fresh salad almost everyday, but only after a safe meal. Eating alone isn't an option. Heather wrote in her book about eating it like the French do - after your main meal.

I'm like you - I had one of my very worst attacks after eating a spinach salad -- and I haven't wanted to even go near one again,

I can't really figure out what salad does to my stomach. I think I can handle it better than some other veggies such as broccoli or spinach.
I eat salad once in a while and always with my meal. Sometimes the dressing can make me burp about a million times which is just so fun!

after a nice soluble fiber meal, a small green salad (fat free dressing) is fine. On an empty stomach, just shoot me please.

I have two categories of foods... ones that I can never eat, and ones that I can eat just fine when I'm feeling well (I have issues with GERD too). Salad is one I can eat just fine. I do always eat it with my main meal and low fat/fat free dressing.

I am with Heather and mags, if I eat it on an empty stomach its a problem, if I eat it after my meal its usally not a problem.

Its actually better to eat it afterwards anyway for digestion and fiber.
