I've been reading on this site for hours now. I am laughing because as I read the information on the diet it was like thousands of little light bulbs lit up in over my head. I had a particularly bad time the summer before last, I would have severe painful... okay, excruciating and scary attacks and I had no idea what I was doing wrong.

I was trying to lose weight so I had switched from my normal "junk food" diet to salads and the whole wheat high fiber diet that you hear is good for dieting these days.

As I read the list of what not to eat, I just started laughing because I was eating all of those things during that period of incredible pain and embarrassment. I went to the doctor and he wasn't very helpful and told me that I could go to a nutritionist. I didn't go and suffered for about 6 months more before I seemed to get the problem under control.

This past week I had the first attack I've had in awhile and I ate a bunch of sunflower seeds... I remember thinking, "I think it was the sunflower seeds... too much fiber???"

The diet plan makes so much sense from everything I know about what triggers my attacks that I am really just very relieved to know that I can stop trying to figure it all out on my own. I've been to other websites for IBS but this one is really well done.

Thanks a lot for your effort. It really is a painful and terribly inconvenient disorder and it's good to see someone spending some time to get information out there.

Yes!! I think it's funny too. I have been not only miserable with my tummy -- but miserable trying to lose weight. I've been unable to though because I was so sick all the time. Now I listen to all those people saying how you can't possibly lose weight eating all those carbs. I've lost 27 pounds in 14 weeks. That's just by reading Heather's book and trying to follow the guidelines in it. I haven't even adding working out regularly yet. I still have a long way to go. I abused my body by eating the wrong way for too long. I have asthma - which makes working out harder. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel though. Thank you, Heather. I am so glad I found the book and so happy for this board as well. The support and ideas -- and people here are fantastic!
