I have been debating the pros and cons of the Atkins fad diet on an AOL board, and now I have heard it all.
An Atkins devotee on there claims that Atkins cures IBS! LOL! She claims she had IBS (yeah, right) and that a high fat, low carb diet cured it. She also claims this for other Atkins people.
Can you believe how low some of them will stoop to push this diet? They are really starting to remind me of Moonies or JWs!

I tried that diet briefly when my husband and his parents were doing it, and I literally though I was going to DIE!

Hi Zaftig - I've seen this on other IBS boards too. How any high fat, high meat, high dairy diet would help anyone's digestion, in any way it all, is completely beyond me. For God's sake, if it causes colon cancer (and it DOES) is it really likely to make your gut happy? I do suspect that some of these folks have celiac, so by avoiding those "evil" carbs they're inadvertently avoiding gluten, and feeling better as a result.
