I have been very sick with diverticulitis. My GI told me 5 years ago that if I have many more attacks I'll have to have part of my colon removed. This guy is supposedly the best GI locally, so when I told my regular doc I wanted someone else, he said, "If you need surgery, this is the guy I'd want to do it for you."

I need to find a better GI. A friend's SIL lives in Seattle and LOVES her GI whose name is Pallavi Patel. Any of you Seattle-ites know of her?

BTW, have any of you had a part of your colon removed? I hear it's very difficult for folks with IBS. Can you imagine how I'm looking forward to this?

I don't have any advice or help to offer, but wanted you to know I'm thinking about you and hoping you don't have to have the surgery. Good luck finding a GI doctor you feel good about seeing.

Take care.

Thanks for your response; I appreciate your kind wishes. I can't say I'm not worried, but I've been through worse, so I'll be okay through this.

How YOU doin'?

Thanks for responding Shelby.

So good to see you, Girl! I answered a post of yours in the Living Room, but you deleted your post too quickly, so my response wasn't accepted.

I'm so glad to hear you're doing so well. It's GREAT news! How about sharing more with us?

but I can't remember how or why!!! I'm so sorry to hear your news - it frustrates me no end that I live right in Seattle but I don't have any great GI doc recommendations. I just don't know of any that I've dealt with, or heard great things about.

I do have a terrific family doc who may be able to recommend someone. Her name is Cassandra Giedt, she's at Providence/Swedish.

Sorry to hear this Bevrs....

No, I don't have a good one to recommend either.... I don't even remember the one that I saw a few years ago... but I did not like him, he was part of Pacific Medical Center at the time...but they move around so much, who knows. Now, I'm just treated by my Family Doctor as he has all my records and I'm pretty stable.

Thanks for responding. Why are good GIs so scarce?! I don't get it. Since this one was recommended, I might make a consultation appointment and drive down there. I am SOOO looking forward to this!

Heather, is it true that removal of a portion of the colon is extremely difficult on IBS-ers, or is that just a nasty rumor?

Thanks for responding. Isn't it odd how we never like our GIs?! Whassup with that anyway?

How you doin'?
