according to
http://www.hcf-nutrition.org/fiber/fiberchart.html
asparagus has 1.7g of soluble fiber per serve compared to about 1.0g of insoluble fiber

does this make asparagus a safe green vegetable?

I do fine with the canned because it's so soft. I prefer the fresh, to cook it yet have it still be "crisp", but when it's prepared that way it doesn't sit as well for me, cuases gas and cramps. So mushy it is! HTH.
