I bought some chick peas, hoping to make a chikpea patty. however, I noticed there was 30g of fibre per 100g tin. this is all insoluble right (which would be too much)? or am I wrong are chickpeas safe to eat? what if you blend psyllium husk into them?

Hi - chickpeas, like all beans, have insoluble fiber skins but soluble fiber centers. So, cook the beans till very tender (or buy canned), and blend or puree until smooth to minimize the fiber of the skins. Chickpeas patties should be just fine. Have with a plain soluble fiber basis like pita bread, or rice, or couscous.
Psyllium actually has both types of fibers, and though it's sold as a soluble fiber supplement it's the one variety most likely to cause bloating and gas. If you tolerate it, that's great and keep using it. If you're noticing problems, try a supplement like Citrucel or Equalactin or Benefiber instead.
