This is my first one in seven years. UGGG! Since yoghurt is off limits to eat - does soy or rice yoghurt work as well for yeast infections?

I am sorry I don't get the reference to Yogurt? How does that help?

barbara,

the live active cultures in yogurt is what helps fight a yeast infection by boosting the presence of "good bacteria" in your body. if your rice and soy yogurt have acidophilus in them, then they will help just the same as regular yogurt. hope that helps!

Yup - just make sure the yogurt says "with live cultures" on the label. You can also take acidophilus supplements (pills or powders). And dust wherever your skin is itchy/irritated with boric acid powder (available at drug stores or pharmacies, without prescription, and cheap). It will help, is totally safe, and you can actually use this for prevention as well as relief.

Barbara - I don't know if you'd be interested in this or not, but here it is anyway. Really gross (but hey, aren't most things on this board when you really think about it! LOL), but about a month or so ago, I had a mild yeast infection from some antibiotics. So, I found this, and I tried it and it worked. Basically, it's a way to apply the acidiphollus topically. Here's where I got the info from: web page I did the yogurt/tampon one once one night before bed, and it was gone the next morning. Like I said, gross but it worked.

Thanks Mags for the info. Interesting way to take care of a yeast infection. Maybe I'll have to try that tonight and make sure my husband isn't looking. He'll roll his eyes at me and say, "another weird thing you learned from your IBS board".
After two days of treatment I'm still not feeling better, so something else has to work better.

Did you try Mags' idea Barb? I have had a yeast infection now for since Fri. (I took Diflucan because I hadn't read your post first). I'll have to consider it in the future...

Thanks for this VERY helpful and informative post everyone!

*hugs*
