I have just started taking Citrucel Fiber today, I took 1 teaspoon of the powder and mixed it with a glass if water, now I am starting to have bad colon cramps, I have not had an attack yet, but it feels like on is about to happen. Is this normal or am I taking the woung type of fiber. I have IBS-D.

Hi - This is the right type of fiber. Make sure that you're not using a flavor of Citrucel with artificial sweeteners. You want either the plain variety or the kind with regular sugar.

It usually takes a few days (and a couple doses per day) for the soluble fiber supplements to work. If you really have a bad feeling about the Citrucel, try another variety such as Benefiber or Equalactin. They're made from a different type of soluble fiber, and people's preferences really vary here.

Best,
Heather
