It might be helpful if you listed the foods and snack you have eaten in the past 2-3 days.

I eat fairly well. Mornings oatmeal or fruit
lunch salad with carrots and avacado
dinner small sampling of chicken
Nothing different than in the past. I am not sure what happened. But I am very concerned that the acacia has stopped working....Ray

Generally speaking fiber doesn't stop working unless you have made a change in things like eating habits or medications.
What fruit are you eating? Are you carrots peeled and cooked? Do you eat anything with the chicken?

I was eating peaches and nectarines but stopped. I usually eat avacado or tortillas with chicken. I am not cooking the carrots, should I? No meds, I try to steer clear but after the problem got to the point of where I stopped going i did take Milk of Mag.
I have also stopped taking the Acacia (Heathers) since I stopped going to the bathroom. It sure worked like a champ for probably 6 mnths and then I slowly started having problems again...

Soluble fiber supplements work best if you also follow dietary modifications for managing IBS symptoms such as Heather's Eating for IBS diet and/or the FODMAP diet which you can read about in the first three links in my signature. Using Heather's approach you would peel and cook carrots before eating them due to the high insoluble fiber content of the skin. You can read about in the link provided above

You may have to gradually increase your dose a bit more - sometimes other things come along and make IBS flare when it's been stable.
I've also heard from people who have to rotate their fiber supplements - from Metamucil, to Tummy Fiber, to Benefiber, then repeat the cycle.
Best, Heather
