I recently tried fibre supplements because I had constipation-based IBS. Two days after I started them I got 'd' and have had it for almost two weeks which is super rare for me. Has anyone had this happen to?

Hi Heather,
It's called Prodiem. I actually saw my doctor yesterday and he said that it shouldn't cause it.

Prodiem contains both psyllium and inulin - both of which could be causing your "d" problems. There's one available in Canada called FibreSmart. I've been using both the powder and capsules for over a week now - and they're GREAT!
Good luck!

Just wondered, What's in FibreSmart? I'm having a tough time finding anything other than Metamucil in Montreal... Thanks Laura

Check out fibre smart: web page
I started taking it a while ago (trial) and it actually turned me to D...however as I have recently started with antidepressants, my C is worse, and I started the fibresmart pills again and it has been pretty good (I ran out though and I cannot buy it here )
contents: Flax Seed, Borage Seed, FOS, Guar Gum, Fennel seed, L-glutamine, marshmallow root, probiotice propriety blend, slippery elm bark, and a blend of 3 fruits.
It is a little pricey, you should be able to find it at a health food store. I tried the powder and all I can say is YUCK! Go for the pills if you want to try. It appears to have a bit of insoluble fibre in it (as it all doesn't completely dissolve) but I have taken it after a glass of acacia.
