I am new to the Boards and new to the IBS Diet. I have had some real success in controlling symptoms during my current flare-up, although not 100% success. I am committed to finding relief! I am losing weight I do not want to lose, so getting into the recipes seems to be the next natural step.
Can anyone tell me whether "toasted" carob powder is different than other forms of carob powder on the market? I need to buy some for the Banana Carob Breakfast Shake and not sure what to buy.
Thanks in advance!

I found some carob powder at a local health food store. I made the Banana Carob Breakfast Shake and I can't believe how great I felt afterward. I felt my stomach settle down and be quiet, more than it has in the last several weeks. Is there something special about carob? I've read that it's good for GERD (which I have too, fun, fun, fun) but couldn't believe it. Does anyone have similar experience with carob?

Carob is actually quite high in soluble fiber. Interestingly, so is unsweetened cocoa powder (like Hershey's). The banana in that smoothie would be soothing, too.
