Does anyone have an IBS safe recipe for the traditional chex mix; the one with the seasonings, worchestershire sauce, and butter? I love that stuff, but it has too much fat in it.
Thanks,
Joan

I know Heather has one in her book, and I think there have been past posts on the boards about variations to it also. Try doing a search.

Mags,
I did do a search but didn't find the one I was looking for. I will try to get a hold of the family recipe and put it on the board for feedback. In case you missed my earlier message, please make sure to put a wedding picture up for use to see when the time comes.

I make it with canola oil for the butter, and I use about 4 tablespoons for the batch, with 1 tablespoon Worcerstershire sauce and 1 teaspoon garlic salt. I just heat that mix in the microwave, then whisk it really well, and while still whisking it (because it won't emulsify) I drizzle it over a big bowl of Corn Chex, Rice Chex, and pretzels. Add Cheerios if you like. Sometimes I add a cup or so of cashews, which I don't actually eat but everyone else will pick them out, and they do give a nice flavor. I microwave the mix for 60 seconds at a time, then stir, for probably 3-5 minutes total. You can also bake at 250F for an hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

I'm not sure how many cups of cereal I'm using - about half a big box of each of type of Chex, and 1/3-1/2 a bag pretzels.

My cousin makes this and fills a spray bottle with the liquid seasoning mix, so she can really evenly distribute it. That sounds like a good idea, but I've never had the chance to try it.

This turns out really delicious, by the way!

Thanks Heather. This is exactly the recipe I was looking for. I will try it this week and let you know how I do.
