for those of you who've tried this recipie, how does it come out? i'm baking one for my family's thanksgiving, and i want to bake second for a potluck i'm having sunday with my friends, but i'm worried that it isn't going to 'pass' for pumpkin pie, and maybe i should try one of the cakes or breads instead. i'm worried that for a food usually so rich (evaporated milk, whole eggs), the substitutions will be too noticeable.

I made it for Christmas last year, and my entire family demolished it. I barely got a slice!

My best girlfriend and I made one last night, and she loved it! As did my roommate, so I definitely think it passes!

I made this last year and everyone loved it. Even my hubby who loves "real" pumpkin pie. I just made this again last night but this year I used the praline pecan topping to it. I also made a real pumpkin pie for hubby because he is always so good about adjusting to what I can eat. Well he looked at mine this morning in the frig and said "Mmmmm I might have to steal some of yours it looks really good with that topping on it!" I said "No way buddy this is all mine! You have your own!"

Heather's tastes just like real pumpkin pie to me, too! Even my dairy-eating family enjoyed it last Thanksgiving.

I baked the pie last night, but didn't try it yet. I can say the consistency was thinner than I thought it would be, but it smelled great while it was cooking. I had to bake it for significantly longer than the directions called for- probably an extra 1/2 hour + or so - the middle was pretty raw.

take it one day at a time.

OMG you have to make this with the praline pecan topping if you never have! It was soooooo good! Hubby was pouting because I didn't make his with that topping on it!
