Hello - whenever you are increasing the amount of fiber (soluble or insoluble) you are eating (from supplements or foods), you want the increase to be gradual. This is because fiber is literally indigestible, so your gut has to "learn" how to deal with more fiber. If you increase your dose too much, too fast, you can get bloating and gas.
BUT - if you've worked your way up to a soluble fiber supplement dose that is regulating motility and keeping IBS at bay, you don't have to start from scratch if you have to stop and restart it. As long as you've only been off the supplement for less than a month or so, you should be able to just start right back up again with the dose you had established.
If you're worried about this, just drop your dose a little bit before restarting. You don't necessarily have to go back to the very lowest dose you began with, just start back up with a dose that is a bit of a decrease from where you ended up.
