I have noticed that most of the postings and reading the IBS book and listening to the tapes. Most if not all talks about IBS-D. How is this going to help me?

Welcome!! By the way.

PS. Do you have any specific questions??

and basically every other non-drug approach to IBS, is that they all just work to help normalize your gut. This means that they're all effective for BOTH diarrhea and constipation. There are plenty of folks on the boards with C as well as D, and some people who alternate back and forth. Don't look at the lifestyle management elements of IBS as remotely similar to drugs. IBS drugs (which can certainly be helpful) are almost always targeting one specific symptom, and can worsen other symptoms (like Zelnorm is only for constipation, and will make diarrhea much worse). This is very different than something like a soluble fiber supplement, which will normalize bowel function from either extreme and then help keep your gut functioning normally. Same thing for peppermint, fennel, chamomile, gut-directed hypnosis, yoga poses for GI health, etc.

If you're new to the site, please read through the diet section, supplements section, yoga and hypnosis sections, and you'll see that they're all meant to help global IBS symptoms.

No worries - you have lots of company and will get plenty of help here! Welcome!
