Quick question about peppermint caps

I just placed my first order for the peppermint caps. My understanding is that it is an anti-spasmodic. The directions say to take three a day between meals right? So is this a preventative thing or do you take them only when you are cramping? My daughter suffers from menstrual cramps and I think I may give them to her when she is cramping.

Hi Rachel,

The peppermint caps are used for both preventive and during attacks. They're similar to peppermint tea in that they calm the stomach spasms that cause the pain.

Not quite sure if they will work the same way with menstrual cramps. Anyone else tried this?

I think they're better for IBS, in that they've totally prevented spasms for me, and for menstrual cramps they help (but don't totally stop the cramps cold).

I'd start with one cap a day, and see how you do. They're very strong - you can then go up to two day, and then three, but you might not need to.

They work best as a preventative, since they take about an hour to reach your intestines to dissolve. For immediate help with spasms, peppermint tea is great because it works instantly. You can use both - they're good together because while the tea works faster, the caps are stronger.
