Hello. I'm a 24 year old male who has had IBS for about a year. I bought both of Heather's books and have started the diet with a great deal of success! I use metamucil 3 times a day which really helps me a lot, but I still have problems with bloating and gas. I'm trying to find something non-psyllium based, like Citrucell, but I can't find anything in Canada! I think we do have "fibercon" but I'd like to find a liquid if possible.

Hi - Unfortunately, this is a tough one. You can check health food stores for Fiberrific, which is inulin, a soluble fiber from chicory. Or, you can order online from medicinechest.com. Here's a prior post about that web page
You can order glucommanan, a supplement from web page.
And, I'm getting so frustrated by the unavailability of soluble fiber outside the US I'm going to start carrying it on the website. I'll post when that happens - probably within the next 2-3 months.
Best, Heather

Heather, I went to the website and this one seems to be available in Canada! Psyllium has been good for many things but bad for others. I can't believe how excited I am about fiber LOL! Also, just a personal note to thank you for your books. They are truly a Godsend. I am realizing that my own entrenched behaviours contribute to my IBS; when I am feeling bad I tend to retreat into bed and just get worse. Since reading your books I've completely changed my approach... I have gone on the IBS diet and am walking an hour each day. It was hard at first but I'm feeling a lot better now. Knowing there is continued help through accupuncture and hypnotherapy tapes gives me real hope; I've never been so positive about my IBS. (and ironically, my IBS has forced me to take better care of myself, something I'm reaping the benefits from in other areas of life!) Thanks again, Ken.
