Heather. I have been following much of the advise on the boards and with your books & diet, SFS advise for about two mos now and I'm happy to say I haven't had an IBS attack in over a month!! I had been IBS D and then after giving up caffeine became severely IBS C. So it took a while to get the right balance for me. Everyone is different so I didn't give up everything because some things just don't bother me that bother other people but what I did give up has made a world of difference. I haven't taken a beano in probably a month and used to live on them and still was a gassy person. Don't know what gas is anymore. I now have normal fiberish BM's every day or sometimes twice a day. I'm also just LOVIN' the soy & tofu desserts so I feel like a human being again. THANK YOU, THANK YOU. And to the rest of you, DON'T GIVE UP. I'VE BEEN SUFFERING FROM THIS MESS FOR WAY OVER 10 YRS. I plan to stay with this way of eating probably the rest of my life, but if it works and I keep being IBS free or IBS free most of the time I'll be happy.

Im new to this forum - was just wondering what (if any) fibre supplements you take? I too have problems with gas every day and was wondering whether my SFS normacol may be to blame?

Benefiber works for me. I take 2 tbsp a day. My other daily fiber that I always take (& not all is on Heather's list but works for me so don't anybody shoot me so I'm sharing) two slices of Orowheat Wheat bread, 1/2 cup of natural applesauce, and oatmeal for breakfast.

Crampgirl, nothing wrong with what you're eating. They're excellent IBS-safe sources of insoluble fiber, which we all need in our diets to stay healthy. It's just when we're in mid-attack that we need to stay away from them. Sounds lovely and healthy to me!
