Fennel tea. Check the recipe board for how to brew.

Amy - HanSolo is right. Fennel tea usually does the trick for me. I've had so much bloating recently, I had to buy fennel by the pount. And, it 's much cheaper. Try it. Use a tea infuser. Good luck. Bloating is no fun...and I know first hand.

also the ginger tea i've found also has a verystrong, almost pepper taste. does anyone have suggestions like a capsule form?

thanks

Hi Amy - I don't know if this will help you out or not, but I can't stand the taste of black licorice! YUCK!! But, I can drink fennel tea. It does have a faint flavor of it, but it's really not that bad. At least for me it's not! I do remember someone recently posting about capsules/pills. You may want to check that out.

As for the ginger--I LOVE ginger, so I can't help you there. Sorry

Good Luck!

Amy - if you put honey in the tea it kinda hides the flavor. That's what I do.

You can get ginger in a capsule at places like GNC, my mom has a bottle of it. Does peppermint tea help with bloating too?

Do you use whole seeds for tea or should they be crushed?

Just brew the whole seeds in a tea strainer. No need to crush them.

Sharon:
I have had a miserable day. I was so constipated that I had to use some laxatives. It just wears me out.
Do you know anyone who sort of just hibernates when these happen.
I feel as though I am missing out on so much.

Judi - when I can't go, I increase my fiber supplements. Normally (if there is such a thing) I take 2 Fibercon with breakfast, 2 at lunchtime, and 3 at dinnertime. When I can't go, I increase to 4 at dinnertime and 3 at lunchtime. If this doesn't work, I tell my husband to call Roto-Rooter or else to start putting on his rubber gloves...
Aside from the joking (just trying to make you laugh), that does help and sometimes I have to do that for 2 or 3 days straight. I got C when I was in San Diego a few weeks ago and I didn't go from Tuesday to Friday. I just kept taking my fiber tablets and tried to eat more soluble fiber (breads, etc.) Finally, everything started to move. How long has it been for you??? Are you taking a fiber supplement? All the other supplements give me too much gas. Fibercon (generic at Wal-Mart) works best for me--no gas.

Using laxatives isn't too good if you use them a lot. Try to get your body used to the soluble fiber supplements. But you have to take them every day. I know it says Laxative on the container, but it's just a soluble fiber supplement and usually isn't harsh to your system.
Once you get straightened out, you won't feel as tho you're missing out. Just hang in there, toots. Things will get better.

Can you get this at the grocery store or do you have to go to a health food store? Can you order it online? I am not a hot tea drinker, and my mom and stepfather drink it and I thought I would try the fennel tea. I have peppermint tea but haven't tried it yet, I'm having more problems with gas/bloating.

You can buy fennel seeds in bulk at a health food store, and brew them in a tea strainer. That's the cheapest way to go. You can also buy fennel tea in tea bags - check your grocery store or health food store for that.

I haven't seen fennel tea online, but I'm going to add bulk fennel to my website in the next few months. It's too hard for a lot of people to find in stores, and it's really the best thing for bloating/gas.

Best,
Heather
