there are other things in dairy (the high fat content, the saturated animal fat, casein, whey) that can trigger GI upsets. You could NOT be lactose intolerant and still get sick from dairy - this is actually extremely common with IBS. Since it's one of the foods that's easily substituted for in cooking, and there's plenty of evidence that people are healthier overall when they don't eat dairy, it's a trigger that I just recommend people completely eliminate.

Actually they are all dairy-free so the nutz over chocolate should be safe too

Watch out for whey in all sorts of other foods. Years ago I ate a hot dog (I know, total junk in them) but I got sick as a dog. When I looked at the ingredients whey was way up on the list of the ones I had. Every time I see someone eating a hotdog now I just cringe not to mention all the pig ears, snouts, dirty feet and who knows what all is in there.

Thanks!! I might have to get myself a box of these now! I have them every once in a while when I don't have time for lunch or something.

I think I need to create a little stock of them.

Your call on the sugar, no sugar. I've just always bought sugar-free because it never tasted like it needed sugar.

Today I had one of the "Cherry Covered Chocolate" Luna bars -- here is a link to the nutritional information: http://www.lunabar.com/flavorsfacts/flavor.cgi?Flavor_ID=2

I am still a newbie, so while this looked acceptable to me, can you guys help me evaluate whether this is "safe"? (I already ate it , but I'd still like to know).

Most people I know who say they are "allergic" to dairy tell me that they get cramps and such. Not me--my intolerance of it shows up in a major sinus infection that can last for a month. The last time I had ice cream--years ago--that's what happened to me. People tell me to take the Dairy Ease pills, but I refuse and say that dairy is not healthy anyway and I don't want to risk getting a sinus infection.
