sweetner of preferance? I am terrified of triggering another episode. I did a search and saw where some thought splenda might be a problem. I hate to hear that and I am afraid to use it now for fear it will all start again. Any advice would be appreciated as I really would like the tea. TIA

Hey Karefree,
Regular sugar or honey will not bother IBS. I use either splenda or stevia with no problem.

I don't know what stevia is, but I think splenda is a sugar substitute, right?
Why not try some really flavorful tea that doesn't need any sweeter at all? For example, Constant Comment is incredible; you could use it as potpourri! Another one that comes to mind is Stash premium chai spice. Even Ginger Aid is lovely, and I seldom need to use honey in it.
If you think the splenda might be the problem, lose it. Nothing is worth the risk. Table sugar or honey is a better alternative. Even going without a sweetener entirely is a better alternative.

I can't drink it without a sweetner but I do wish that I could. The pepermint tea that I have on hand is mail order and the brand escapes me now.
I hope that splenda is not a trigger for me as it is my sweetner of choice but I went with regular suger because I don't want to chance anything that might begin the cramps that I am still feeling though to a lesser extent that I was this weekend. Thanks so much for the help. I appreciate it.

Splenda and Stevia are sugar substitutes and are problematic for many people. I'd stick with the sugar or honey. I have honey in my tea all the time with no problem, and it gives it a fantastic flavor!
