Hello,
I haven't seen many people who have vomiting with their IBS. I have thrown up and only after eating bread that is supposed to be ok. Sourdough from the bakery, white pitas and plain english muffins and bagels have all made me throw up. Can someone help me with why this might be? Maybe I have something in addition to IBS?

Thank you,

Ashley Meyer

I have never thrown up with my IBS. I am often nauseated, but it's usually brought on by morning headaches, and after I have my morning tea it subsides. No, I have never thrown up with IBS.

See what others have to say here, and if they don't have the same symptom as you, I'd call the doctor and let him know what's happening with you.

Hi - I have heard of vomiting from having an attack (like from the pain for example), but never just from eating bread. I have a feeling this is something other than IBS. I'd check with your doctor to be safe.

Good luck!

hi ashley. my name is vikki. im 15 years old and have been suffering from IBS since grade 4. I have seen 3 naturalpaths and a dietician (who has IBS her self) and all 4 of them have advised me to stay away from anything containing sugar and wheat. I used to eat normal wheat prodcuts such as bread, cakes, cookies, pasta;s etc. But now i shop at a natural health food store. My mum buys me spelt bread and spelt bagels and they seem to agree fine with my stomach. I also eat kamut bagels. So basically i replaced regualr bread with wheat in it to spelt and kamut bread. this seems to work fine with me! you can also go to your local grocery store and get special pasta. Instead of wheat its made with rice flour. I know it sounds grose but you actually cant taste any difference. well i hope this helps you out and i hope you are able to find something that settles well with your stomach. reply back sometimes and let me know if you have found anything that works.

No reason at all to vomit from bread from IBS alone.

Heather,

Thank you so much for replying. I am going to the dr for several tests and I will ask about wheat and celiac, but I am confused about pasta because I eat it all the time and it's made from pure durum wheat semolina so wouldn't that make me sick too if I'm allergic to wheat? Help!

Thank you. This site is awesome and I appreciate everyone's replies so much.

Hey Ashley.
I threw up everything - including bread, for about 6 weeks. The docs say that what happened was that I got the flu, and with IBS I just really irritated my stomach, so no matter what I ate, I couldn't digest. I haven't thrown up now for about a month. I don't know if this is kind of what happened to you or not, but I hope it goes away soon! I'm glad you're going to the doctor. I would love to hear what he has to say incase we have the same problem!!
