I just couldn't handle it Jen! I about gag with that chalky taste in my mounth I found this Ensure Fiber with FOS today, but didn't know if the probiotics were a bad thing? Some of the ingredients: canola oil, soy protein isolate, oat fiber, corn il, soy fiber, magnesium chloride cellulose gel, soy lecithin, etc... What do you think?

Sorry 'bout that. I wish you had liked it.

I'm still new enough to the diet that I'll let others answer your ingredients questions, but I do know that lactose free is good! I don't see anything that's wrong... but I would wait to see what Mags, Heather, Kree and many other experts would say!

I think I remember hearing something that wasn't good about Ensure, but unfortunately I can't remember what! What are the ingredients? Maybe someone else will remember why it bothers some people!

It also says FOS is a soluble fiber and a soy fiber;and instead of probiotics it is PREBIOTICS for the lower digestive tract.

Hi SSS,

I took a look at the ensure webpage and found a FAQ page: web page.

It does say that Ensure is lactose free, but it also contains milk proteins, which can trigger attacks in some IBSers. Again, everyone is different so I would use with caution.

Hope this helps.

Ensure is loaded and I mean loaded with fat - which is not good for IBS.

and it is a prebiotic, which just means it encourages the growth of probiotics (good gut flora) in the intestines. This is a good thing. But FOS (which stands for fructo oligo saccharide) is very closely related to inulin, and inulin can cause extreme bloating and gas. I really don't know if the FOS will have this effect or not - I haven't tried it (I've never seen it sold as a stand-alone fiber supplement) and I haven't heard from any other folks who have tried it.
