Yes, unfortunately you're right. I used that when I first started the diet and didn't realize the importance of watching my fat intake, but I've pretty much stopped using it. In my mind you have to treat it like oil or anything else that's almost pure fat. If there's a small amount of it in a recipe it's probably fine, and it's okay to use a tiny bit on a bagel or baked potato. But if there's a ton of it in a recipe, I forego the recipe and look for something lower cal. Sorry I couldn't have better news for you, but fat is a scary thing for us!

I use tofutti cream cheese in Heather's Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast and absolutely love it. It never bothers me. I feel that there are so many things that we are restricted from eating that when you find semething you like, you need to hold onto it pretty tight. With the way we eat, how could that little bit of fat affect us anyway??

Yep - Kree is right. The tofutti cream cheese is better than the dairy version for IBS, but it's still almost pure fat, so use it sparingly. Just a tablespoon or two in a recipe can give you the taste of cream cheese and keep you safe, but you don't want to make a whole cheesecake out of it.
I like to combine a bit of it with either drained and blended silken tofu, or with drained soy yogurt. Those are both much lower in fat. A touch of the tofutti added in gives the cream cheese flavor without the high fat.
