Hello! Does anyone know off hand which herbs should be avoided for IBS? A friend highly recommended some herbal capsules that help your immune system combat colds and influenza type viruses...(I'll try to get a detailed list of the capsule contents soon). I know one main herb in there is Echinacea...Thank you! Aunie

Hi - As long as the herbs are safe for general use, all you'd have to watch out for re IBS is herbs that have a diuretic or laxative effect. Avoid those completely. Anything that says it is "cleansing", or "detoxifying" needs to be looked at very closely, as does anything that says it is "slimming". Otherwise, you're probably good to go!

For IBS specifically, the best herbs are talked about in the Supplements web section here Herbs for IBS
