Is there any difference between oatmeal and whole-grain oats when it comes to IBS. I am getting a little bored with porridge every day and am tempted by puffed whole-grain oats e.g. http://rudehealth.com/product/puffed-oats/

it might be the gooey squidgeyness about porridge that makes it soothing... also, some porridge oats may have a bit of the whole grain removed? worth trying the puffed oats as a snack in the afternoon and see how you respond? rather than first thing in the AM when you are more sensitive. I put chia, flax, chopped bananas and black strap molasses in my porridge to make it more interesting

Hi - oatmeal is whole-grain oats, but the grain might be processed differently. Both will have insoluble fiber from the oat bran, but in general oats are tolerable for IBS.
Instant oatmeal would be the easiest on your gut. I'm not sure about the puffed oats - my guess is they will be fine, but try cautiously.
