Are there more foods on the Soluble Fiber list that are safe to eat, or is this the complete list? Is there another list somewhere?
Thank you!

Hi Heather,
What about brown rice? Is that safe for us IBSers to eat?
Also coconut in cookes?
Thanks!
-------------------- Originally diagnosed with IBS-C in Spring, 2008. During spring to fall of 2008, had at least 10 acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs. IBS went into remission. IBS returned in late July 2013 after taking 2 oral contrasts for a CT scan for cancer follow up. Had more acupuncture with different practitioner in summer 2014, but received little benefit.

Hi - brown rice does have some insoluble fiber from the rice bran (that's the brown part - polish that off and you're left with white rice, and just the soluble fiber).
But - it tends to be one of the safest whole grains for IBS, along with finely ground cornmeal, instant oatmeal, and tapioca.
Coconut is very high fat - I'd be cautious, and certainly not use it as any kind of safe soluble fiber staple.
Best, H

Nothing specific right off the top of my head, just feel like I'm starving myself because I'm scared to eat certain things I don't see on the list.

Make sure you drink at least 10C water/day as well as move throughout the day, otherwise fiber will sit fermenting creating painful gas. Yes, fiber is good as long as you move it through at a proper rate.

Coconut Oil is very beneficial in gut healing It contains caprylic acid which is a powerful anti-fungal that kills candida cells and bad bacteria as well as restoring the stomach acidity to normal level. Although it is an oil, it is a healthy saturated fat that helps to ease the digestive system problems. If you have IBS, there exists at least one benefit of taking this oil no matter how mild or severe your symptoms are.

Thanks Heather!
Is it OK if I eat a small amount of coconut in a cookie or some candy?
Thanks again!

Thank you! I've been trying to drink as much water throughout the day as I can.

What do you use in place of Mayonaise? I've seen that we can't have egg yolks so wondering if Mayo is something we shouldn't have? Heather, you asked me to keep you up to date on the Peppermint Tea. It did bother my gallbladder, so I'm thinking the capsules may have the same effect, but haven't tried them yet (scared to). No problems with the tummy fiber or the fennel tea though.

And I don't believe it is a *healthy* saturated fat. I don't believe any saturated fats are healthy, despite current fads.
