I wanted to know if I can eat brown rice, instead of white. I am on weight watchers and they really push whole grains. On the Ibs diet cheat sheet it states rice as soluble fiber, but do not specify what kind. I have always avoided it, thinking it was not good for me....I don't want to set myself up for attacks when I am trying to get healthier.....being on two diets can be tricky.

It's not easy to follow the diet without reading "The First Year IBS" to fully appreciate the whys behind it;The cheat sheet is a reminder for me while out and about especially.

Some people can handle the bran in brown rice - primarily those with IBS-C - while others cannot. I cannot. It is something that you will have to figure out for yourself

that it's not all or nothing. You can mix in a little cooked brown rice with mostly cooked white rice if you can't tolerate just brown rice alone. Vary the ratio depending on how stable you are.
