I had my gall bladder out on April 2nd due to unrelentless and refractory IBS-D ... almost 7 years after diagnosis and many years before that ... sheer misery ... anyhow, wonderful decision and I'm doing so much better ... don't even need my diarrhea meds at all any more Now, here's the problem, and I hate to call it a "problem", I know have the reverse issue of constipation

I know the fiber supp. would help. But how do I go about using it etc. I did use it a few years ago for the diarrhea aspect of things. Never for constipation

Oh yeah and the fennel tea was a life saver when I was suffering before my surgery!

start with a low dose of 1/2 teaspoon twice daily, and increase gradually. Add an extra 1/2 tsp to one dose every 4-5 days or so. Keep gradually increasing.

Diarrhea would typically resolve at a lower dose (very roughly 1-2 tablespoons per day) whereas constipation takes a higher dose (very roughly 3-5 tablespoons per day).

There's no magic number- just keep gradually increasing until you reach the dose that stabilizes you. That will just be a higher dose in general for constipation than diarrhea.

Best,
Heather
