I've always envied people who could do full vegetarian diets. But in my mind, it seems like it would be a ton of ibs NOT SAFE foods, lots of insoluble fiber. I manage to stay somewhat "stable" most of the time but even then too many grapes or something like that will make things not fun the next morning.

So are there any ibs'ers who are vegetarian? Any ideas for recipe books and such? Any good info out there you can share?

You might ask this question on the 'Go Veggie' forum. Look at the top of the page for a link. Unfortunately, it does not have many posting.

Those of us that have problems with insoluble fiber found in many plant protein sources are unlikely to have success with a vegetarian diet no matter how much soluble fiber we eat.

You're just avoiding animal products if you're vegetarian, and there is no soluble fiber in those, so there's nothing helpful for IBS.

Check the veggie board link Syl sent you, and also lots of the recipes in Eating for IBS are either veggie or easily made so.

Best,
H
