Does anyone know if there are similarities between these 2 things? My pastor has come down with diverticulitis, is afraid to eat anything, is losing weight, and I'm wondering if I could offer my help with what i now know about IBS. Thank you for helping me with this.

Diverticulitis is something more serious, requiring antibiotics and medical care. But, same diet as for IBS will also help him feel better.

He needs to be especially careful to get lots of soluble fiber (which actually helps prevent diverticulosis in the first place). But, he needs to be careful with insoluble fiber, especially small tough particles like seed hulls. They can get trapped in the pockets (diverticuli) and cause problems. If he follows the insoluble fiber rules for Eating for IBS that will really help.
