That is nothing! Yeah - you need to take more. I was taking the powder form, 2 T in the am, 2 T in the PM. I think that's about 3 grams each time. I did start off slow when I first started taking it, 1 tsp each time, to 2 tsp, etc.

I'm still trying to track all the feedback from Acacia. So far it's been overwhelmingly favorable, but I had to figure there would always be exceptions (why is IBS always like that?!) I'm curious if you were up at 3T a day if the results would be the same. (I feel like I'm asking you to be a guinea pig )

Everything in my store is totally guaranteed, so please don't feel that you're stuck with the caps if you're unhappy with them. No need for that!

I am learning from the boards that people have really varying reactions to the caps depending on when they take them. Everyone with reflux issues seems to have the best results when they take them on a totally empty stomach, a good hour or two before they eat. Other folks have better results when they take a cap right before or with a meal. I don't know why there is such variation here - if it's just an IBS thing or a peppermint cap thing.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm at 1 T in the am, and 1 T in the pm. That was about equivalent to the amount of grams of Citrucel I was taking (I'd been taling 2 T of Citrucel in the am, and again in the pm) Should I just start right at an extra 1 T with lunch, or should I build up to it? What do you think? Or, of course, I guess I could do 1.5 T in the am, and again in the pm?

Let me know...I'm willing to guinea pig for ya!

bevrs - same as u, stinky gas (not exactly the best way to introduce yourself to new Uni mates! my solution is to keep moving, that way no-one suspects you!) I have found the fennel beneficial for both bloating and gas, especially the bloating - dont know if that affects you also? I started taking the acacia over a month ago now...i think at first it made the gas and bloating worse (as heather said it might), but after a few weeks, it really starts to help...i know that for some people it hasn't been that good for them, but i would recommend it

Yeah, try the extra tablespoon at lunch. If that goes okay for several days, you can always add on that tablespoon to your morning or pm dose, so you don't have to hassle with 3 doses a day.

Well I don't believe the Acacia is causing this episode of stinkiness! I skipped my dose of it yesterday am and have had 4 attacks of D today-I did take my dose of acacia today and am hoping that since everything in my body decided to do a mass exit today, I will be rid of this week long stinkiness! My poor hubby has given me the new pet name of stinky butt! Good thing he has a good sense of humor and not so good sense of smell due to chronic allergies!

My husband has diverticulitis and takes Fibercon, which I used to take, but it did terrible things to me, anyway, I noticed that the wal-mart/sam's club brand lists Acacia as an ingredient, I didn't know if anyone was aware of that.

I've been taking Acacia for a month now. I take 1 tsp.
a day. I've been taking it before I eat. I was also
on cholestramine and I found myself getting very constipated so I decided since my insurance company
doesn't want to pay for the cholestamine that I'd ease
off of it and just use the acacia. I was taking acacia
every other day with the cholestramine every other day.
Then I went to taking Chlestramine every 3 days and then
I stopped taking it for 11 days. I took acacia 1tsp. every
day. I was doing okay except for occasional bouts of
constipation. Which is highly unusual for me. Then all of
a sudden three days ago I got terrible pains in my bowel,
back, etc. (I swear it felt just like labor pains). After
two days of that I took my cholestramine and a couple hours
later I had the pain but I was able to release it by going
to the bathroom 5 times. Now I feel bla and sore and I'm
thinking I will continue with the acacia and take the
Cholestramine maybe every 4 or 5 days. I know the dose
of acacia that I'm taking sounds small, but the cholestramine I take is 1/8 of a tsp.. I just don't need
much medicine. All the medications I take are in tiny
doses. If I take more they knock me out or cause problems.
So any idea what caused this bout of terrible pain? I
had no idea what to do about it except suffer and sleep.
Any ideas anyone? Does anyone else feel like they are
in labor when they get this? I hope this wasn't to
confusing to understand.
