Hi friends of the board!

In the last month I have seen both my personal internal medicine doctor and my children's pediatrician with whom I've shared this website as an excellent resource for help. I also told them that if it wasn't for my accidentally coming across this website, I would have remained sick for who knows how long as they admittedly had nothing to offer me (diet plan/resources etc) to help deal with this condition (and this is at one of the nations leading medical care organizations!).

I have seen both doctors since, and they thanked me EMPHATICALLY for the information as they have passed it on to several patients who in turn have found this website a positive life changing resource, and of course with many thanks to Heather, our guardian angel!

Please don't hesitate to inform your physicians about this website, so that we can all in turn possibly help so many that are anguished dealing with IBS. Now, these two doctors have something valuable (this website) to aid their patients with to gain success with IBS!

Cheers to Heather!

Wow - I wish I could get my doctor to look! That's great, though! Hopefully she can inspire more doctors to see the site.

Hi, Alicia! I too have gotten a lot from this website -- certainly a lot more than I got from my doctors up here! You're lucky to have doctors who will look into this website and appreciate it as they obviously do. I was not as fortunate; I still haven't found a good GI doc. Thanks to Heather, to Michael and to this website, I am doing so much better (and getting better every day). We moved up here from SF three years ago, before my IBS was officially diagnosed (although I had the symptoms for many years before) -- maybe we should have stayed down there after all, eh?!? Anyway, congratulations for finding such good doctors; stay with them! Bev.

Oh wow.. I didn't even realize that you were from the Bay Area, Alicia! Are you located near San Jose? I'm looking for a really good doctor and would love to maybe contact yours! I have Kaiser, though, so if your doctor isn't Kaiser than there might not be much luck for me.

Hi,

Yes, I'm on the mid-peninsula and I do belong to Kaiser also! I actually go to Redwood City Kaiser. How about you?

Oooh this is really good to know! I go to the Santa Clara Kaiser right now, but if I could find a doctor who is understanding, I'd gladly drive up to Redwood City. Only about a 45 min drive for me, I think.

What's the name of your doctor? I have a colonoscopy/upper endoscopy next Tuesday and then my GI Specialist said that we'd go from there. Depending on where she goes and what she suggests will decide whether I want to switch doctors! My GI Specialist is really nice, but it doesn't seem like she knows much.

Hi Jennifer,

Well the doctor I've been praising is not my GI doctor, it's my internal medicine doctor at Kaiser. I am actually verrrry disappointed about the GI setup there. It was my internal med. doc who ordered the colonoscopy and ran all the blood tests. The only time I spoke with my GI doctor was on colonoscopy day when they already had me partially sedated. It turns out that Kaiser is down one GI doctor so they are not even scheduling consultation appts. with their two remaining GI docs! Can you believe that? I actually had to type up what was going on with me and had the GI doc read it while on the colonoscopy table...that was the only time I met him! He said that after the procedure all of my questions and follow up would have to be with me Internal Med doc. So much for quality health care!

So maybe you're not so bad off after all. At least you get to have a conversation with your GI doctor. Long story short, I have a great Internal Med doctor who listens to me, and tries her best to help where she can, and is grateful for the info about this website so she can now pass this info to her IBS patients.

Sorry, I wish I could have provided you with a great GI doc's name!
I will think good thoughts for you on your procedures next week. Let me know how it turns out, okay?

Alicia

Hey Alicia,

Aw - too bad. Yeah, Kaiser sucks sometimes when it comes to how they treat their patients. I had a really bad internal medicine doctor who reported me to DMV (suspended my drivers license) when I told him I had fainted twice within the last year. It took two weeks to get it straightened out.. and he got in big trouble! Needless to say, I am very careful what I say to anyone at Kaiser and can't even report when I'm dizzy for fear they'll take my license again.

I'll let you know what my GI doctor says. Trying to get an appointment at Kaiser is hard enough so I try to cram everything I want to tell them in one appointment! This doctor at least goes and schedules my follow-up appointments! I was surprised when she did this as I've never known a Kaiser doctor to do this.

Glad you have a great Internal Medicine doctor!
