Low-Carb= No Bloating and Gas?!

Recently, I've tried a low-carb diet, except I still eat as many fruits and vegetables as I want. The only things I've cut out are the sugar and some of the bread products (I eat "live" whole grains now). I have to say that this really helps with embarrassing bloating and gas! (The first two weeks are difficult.) The diet itself is very boring, though (no sugar!).
Has anyone tried this and had similar results?

I have heard that low carb diets reduce bloating and gas, plus if you are eating lots of fruits and veggies you wouldn't have such a bad constipation problem (a problem I have) as might be expected on diets such as Atkins. But what are "live" whole grains? Could you explain your food plan more?

I think the live whole grains means the grains are sprouted first before it is made into flour. It's easier for your system to digest. That's the way breads and stuff were made back in the olden days.

I used to get Ezekiel bread which is sprouted grains. I may try your approach as I am just gaining too much weight with the pasta, white bread, rice routine and it hasn't helped my bloating much.

Basically you can't "Atkins" low carb if your IBS-D. I mean we're talkin' eating HIGH SF fiber veggies, lots of meats (fatty if you are truly low carbing Atkins) and high fat. And if you don't do HIGH FAT, HIGH PROTEIN - well, the body just can't make it on lowfat, high protein...unless you get some carbs for your brain/energy. Soluble fiber has carbs...lots of carbs.

What brand live grain bread do you eat? Do you eat other carbs like potato, rice, pasta? Do they make "live" versions of those?

Fiber (both soluble and insoluble) is classified by the FDA as a carbohydrate, but all fibers are indigestible. So, they don't actually have any true calorie content.

watch the ezekiel bread it has way too many different grains and legumes fro most people, try a single sprouted grain bread, like sprouted wheat or a combo of two, the ezekiel braed has about 9 different grains and even legumes, really hard to digest, plus quite honestly having so many different competing flavour in the grains maek it wind up tasting bland to me, i much prefer the srouted rye or spelt sourdoughs to ezekiel, i detest white flours and do not eat any of them at all.

I'm using this "Ezekiel" brand bread, which has no flour and only the whole grain. I've tried the Raisin Cinnamin one, the Sesame Seed one, and the plain, and they are actually really good! Because I've cut out more sugar and simple carbs from my diet, I seem to be digesting fats more easily (it's not so painful now). I try to eat fruits and vegetables that have a high mineral and vitamin content. This diet isn't as bad as it looks...

Where do you get the sprouted rye and wheat? They sound good.
