I went to my local (and only) health food store and they put a flyer in my bag. I don't know what it means. It says, "GMO Foods List, Don't Be A Guinea Pig!" Then it lists a bunch of major food companies, like Kelloggs cereals, Progresso soups, Tostitos, Pace salsa (all of which are things I eat). Does anyone know what this means?

Here's what I found with a little googling:
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)
Unfortunately, because of money, many of our crops have been or are being genetically modified. Genetically engineered (GE) means that the genes and DNA have been altered in that food item. Altering the genetic make-up of foods is creating, well, Frankenstein foods. The effects of these changes have not been fully tested on our environment nor on our health and what little information exists is dismal.

You can check out greenpeace.ca or .com...Search the site by typing in GMO. They list all brands that are NOT genetically modified, as well as those that are. Blame Mon Santo....and Con Agra foods...~ all in the name of profit--and none of us know the long term effects of these "altered" foods!

I have to do most of my shopping at regular grocery stores. We have one small health food store in town and it does not offer very many things. I'll be more careful in my selections, but I may have no choice but to eat some of these foods. How long has this GMO food thing been going on?
