Good Morning Friends,
Something new happened to me last night... I went to bed around 8pm and my stomach started hurting, crampy feeling, it started out the normal feeling (mild pain, like I usually get) and progressed. By 10:00 I had severe pain from my lower abdomen up to my neck, Last time I had pain that bad was a wisdom tooth extraction. Oh my word it hurt. I tried heat first, but it seemed like anything touching me made it worse. This lasted til about 2 am when I finally fell asleep ( I had mild nausea from the pain, no urge for BM). This was just so wierd. I ate one thing differently yesterday in the morning - a bean burrito with some hot sauce, could this have affected me 12 hours later? I feel alittle weird this morning, but the pain seems to be gone. Has anyone else had this happen? I could feel my colon spasming along with numerous other internal parts . Any pain I have had before was before and during a BM. Oh well any ideas?

Colby

Maybe you should go see your doctor? Doesn't sound nice.

Hi - I'd second Linz to check with your doc about this. Severe pain from your lower abdomen all the way up to your neck is atypical for IBS.

Thank you both for responding I have an appt. Wednesday morning with my Gastro - will definetly let her know. I was just kinda curious about heartburn , I don't beleive I have ever had it before and was wondering if that was what was causing the pain in the chest, neck area. Along with severe gas pain from the beans, it has been quite awhile since I have had beans , just very happy I am feeling better today.

Hi Colby,

Heartburn tends to be quite qute localised, although you can get it in your stomach and gullet. But the classic case is a sharp pain in the centre of your chest. It can be really horrible, but it's usually easy to tell that its heartburn if you're on the lookout for this (when I first got it, I wasn't).

Good luck on Wednesday.

I had this happen a few weeks ago and ended up in the ER because it hurt to even breath, and I had a fever. They ran some tests but decided it was just a reaction to some stomach virus. I second the idea of seeing your Dr as my GI Dr felt the symptoms were unusual for IBS. Good luck and let us know how your appointment turns out.
