Just a quick question on Mackeral. I was under the impression that fish in general was good for IBS, but having tried smoked Mackeral on two seperate occasions recently my IBS has gone haywire for 2-3 days afterwards.
I am note sure whether this is related to the fish, or whether I am just in one of my bad cycles, but I was wondering if anyone else had problems with this?
Thanks

Hmmm - is the mackerel packed in oil? If not, I'm wondering if they're adding some preservatives - smoked fish sometimes has nitrites, artifical color/flavor, edta, or other nasty ingredients added to. Don't know why, since they're not needed.

I've had smoked mackeral several times in the last couple of weeks with no problem. It is yummy stuff (my Dad used to get this for us all to share as a treat)
