Hi everyone,
I was wondering if my body could become immune to Acacia? I am taking three cooking tbs. per day. I was doing fine for a few months, then the bloating and constipation returned.
Do you think I need to move up to the complete four tbs. per day; if so, what if the bloating and constipation return after a few months? This is the only fiber that has given me relief.
Anybody else experiencing this problem?
All comments are welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks Lene

I sure hope not! I am a D and it is really helping me. I take 2 Tbls. a day. Some C's seem to have a problem with Acacia. At least that's what I've read around here.

What else are you doing? Are you following the diet, getting plenty of safe IF, drinking LOTS of water and exercising?
I take 2T a day of Acacia and as long as I also keep an eye on my diet, stress levels and activity levels I'm fine (I've been on it since it came out). But if I cheat lots or get very stressed then no amount of Acacia can make me fine on it's own.
Also, by a cooking tbsp, do you mean 15ml?

depending on other factors that affect your IBS. If you need to increase, go ahead and do so. You might be able to decrease later on. IBS tends to come and go, wax and wane, and it's not unusual to have to adjust your soluble fiber dose to reflect that. It's nothing to worry about, just something to keep in mind so you can keep yourself stable.

Hi, Lene and all! I hope one's body cannot become immune to Acacia. It has really helped me a lot! I do have to adjust my dosage sometimes, though. Do most of you guys drink it in a glass of water, or eat it in food? It's not supposed to get gummy in water, but somehow mine does. Any ideas? I usually put it in a bit of applesauce. Is that a good way to take it?

Really, Acacia alone is not enough to stop C and bloating. It helps loads, but you need to get some IF in your life (every meal, even) to keep things moving. Please search on IBS-C and IF to see the loads of posts about this, or go look at the newsletter archives for Heather's info on IBS-C.

I HEAT MY WATER IN THE MICROWAVE FOR 1 MIN. 25 SECS. THIS WORKS GREAT FOR THE LUMPS THAT CAN SOMETIMES OCCUR.
GIVE IT A TRY. LENE
