Hi! I'm still around, but been very busy. I haven't had any major flare ups lately, until today. I think it was because we had a potluck at work and I made an apple crisp. It was good, but today it got back at me for eating it. I don't think it was the apples, as they are peeled and cooked. I think it is the topping I put on it. I use brown sugar, flour, and lactose free margine. Can apples bother you, even if they are cooked? I eat store applesauce with no problem.
Been reading the post, but don't have the free time to respond back.
Have agreat weekend everyone!

Hi Karen! It's good to see you!
Apples are fine to eat peeled and cooked. I'm wondering if it was the margarine? Or did you eat anything else at the potluck?
Hope you're feeling better soon.

I now think it was the brown sugar topping. I use non dairy maragine and haven't had any problems with it. It may also have been the combination pita bread and salad. I put the salad into the pita and added some dressing. I also think the dressing I have been using is starting to give me problems now. I use Italian 2% fat. I think the spices in it are bothering me now. I switched to oil/viniger dressing. Now I'm wondering, is Olive oil okay for IBS suffers?
I am feeling better. Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen - odds are it was the fat, in both the margarine and the dressing. Fat, no matter what, is a trigger. Check here web page for details, and how to eat it safely ('cause you do have to eat it, especially the heart-healthy varieties, but carefully).
Best, H
