Cocoa Puffs, Baked Lays Potato Chips, Tostitos, flavored Oatmeal? Do you think people with IBD (UC) can tolerate these foods as well? Does the Peppermint Tea apply to IBD as well or just the stomach for IBS?
If so I have been missing out!

Hi - With IBD you pretty much have to watch out for the same things as with IBS, though the consequences for you are much more serious. The safe foods tend to be the same as well, so feel free to enjoy the Cocoa Puffs and baked chips!

Peppermint tea can help you feel better. It won't address the underlying inflammation as IBD drugs will, but it can help with the pain and diarrhea. This would be true of the peppermint caps as well. Anything with pure peppermint oil or extract in it would have the helpful properties.

Best,
Heather

Thanks Heather for your reply.
That's great news knowing I can expand my menu to foods I thought were illegal. I'm also discovering some reasons why I may not be recovering from constant inflammation I believe much of it is diet related. I have found that my routine of drinking Apple(100%),Grape(100%),and Orange Juice (not from concentrate) along with nutritional supplement drinks like Ensure Plus should probably be avoided or at least severely curbed. I will try the tea because the diarrhea and pain are what I need to reduce. I also found I eat too much insoluable fiber (green veggies like peas and spinach daily)....and those egg yolks! I was eating scrambled eggs (microwaved) every other morning. Now as of one week ago I am sticking with Oatmeal,Cheerios, Cream of Wheat for breakfast. I do the fish and poultry routine for dinners as well as pasta. Been staying away from meats as well. I'm hoping in the next few weeks I'll see improvement or maybe I'll be able to put out the fire alltogether.
