Excuse my typing- Iam still under the sedatives from my colonoscopy this morning. Everything looks fine and the whole procedure from prep to the actual test was a breeze. The GI I saw ordered more tests, but I am not having any luck finding info on the test. It is called a sitz marker test for GI motility. I have to swallow 3 capsules (1 ea. day) and get 2 abdominal x-rays. Anyone know what this is and what it is for?

Thanks!
A very woozy Sarah

Hi - Here's info

"Colorectal transit study. This test, reserved for those with chronic constipation, shows how well food moves through the colon. The patient swallows capsules containing small markers that are visible on an x ray. The movement of the markers through the colon is monitored with abdominal x rays taken several times 3 to 7 days after the capsule is swallowed. The patient follows a high-fiber diet during the course of this test."

That's all I've been able to find with a quick search...

This test is just a tangible way to see how fast things move through the system. (well actually how slow they do in most cases) the pills are swallowed and then can be tracked through x-rays to see where they are.
