Hi, I am new to the site but a reader of Heather's book for a long time. I have Fibromyalgia and IBS is a by-product or a cousin of the condition. I want to share the things that are helping me with both problems. 1. I combined Heather's diet and advice for IBS with the ones from Dr. Andrew Weil. They are very similar. Dr. Weil recomend taking pro-biotics ( specific ones) as well as fiber supplements, relaxation techniques and some herbs. For more information you can go to Prevention's magazine web site and read his column ( he wrote one specific for IBS). Read this month article about herbs for digestive problems. It is very good. 2. My alternative medicine doctor revised my vitamin intake and made some changes that have been help me a lot. The only type of calcium that he recomends is citrate because is very gentle to the system and is absorbed fast. He said carbonate should be used only for short term.In terms of magnesium, the only type he recomends is glycimate because is gentle and the body can assimilated it easy. I have been having problems with the oxide ( diarrea). This type is not easy to find, check with your vitamin shop and your doctor first. Oops! I have to go, my boss is coming. I will continue later. Thanks Heather for you work and happy eating to everyone.
