I just found this site and I'm so happy I'm actually sitting here crying to my dog! I've been suffering with IBS for 3 years now and I thought I was going crazy. Started doing a little research in my spare time just a few months ago. And tonite I've tripped over this site. I've been reading for over an hour now and I can't believe all of the good information. I started cutting things out of my diet about 9 months ago, but now I see I've substituted things that are even worse! No wonder I feel worse everday! I'm going to order the books right away! Just to let you know how happy I am I've found you - this is the first time in my life that I have ever posted on a message board. I'm usually just a "lurker". But I had to let someone know how relieved and happy I am to know that this is controllable. Thought I was going to have to spend the rest of my life in the bathroom. You have given me hope. Now I need to find the tissues!

I think we all felt relieved and very excited to find this site as well. It's the best, as are the people on it.

Welcome!

I'm so glad you found us! Welcome to the boards! Feel free to ask any questions that might come up... while you're waiting for the books, there's plenty of good information already on the site, so definitely jump right in - no point in suffering longer than you have to, right? Anyway, glad to have you here with us, and hope you find the tissues!

Welcome to the boards! It may have been years ago I found this place, but I remember the relief you're feeling as if it was yesterday. I hope you start feeling better and taking control of your life very soon... and check in to let us know how it goes!

welcome welcome!! isnt this site the best? i had been suffering myself too--for 2 years since i was 17. im 19 now and had been at such a loss as for what to do bc everything seemed to fail. i started looking up information to establish some kind of diet that would be easy to follow and came across this site too. i ventured in and found loads of helpful tips and am suffering less then i was and couldnt be happier! ive learned more in maybe...a month and a half about my sydrome then i did in the 2 years of dealing with it blind. im so glad that you had the same reaction. i had no idea so many people were suffering from this problem too. i never talked about it as i was usually too embarrassed. the best advice i can give you is to go vegan. you can find the best food substitutes and it helps alot with the symptoms and if youre not for that much of a change..anything organic rocks. especially soymilk--it has become my new favorite! anyways, welcome and good luck on your path to healing=) peace

Isn't it amazing to find so much help?! I know I was gobsmacked that this site was out there and I hadn't been told about it!

I get you on the subbing worse things. Before I found this place I kept on trying to eat more wholewheat bread and brown rice and salads! Painful!

Thanks for all the kind words. I printed out so much of the site the other day and the very first thing I did was cut out coffee. That hurt, too, I drink at least a pot a day. But, I couldn't believe it! I actually felt better by the very next day! No where near perfect - but if that one little thing can make such a difference...! You can bet I'll on these boards all the time! You can probably tell by my name that I'm a pastry chef, so I can't wait to see what you guys do with desserts!

WELCOME, COME HAVE A TALK WITH US!!!

I know how you feel, when I found this site, I was so grateful. I had found other sites on the web but none like this one. It seemed (and was) that everything I was experiencing someone else had either already experienced are was going through the same as me.

God blessed the day I found this board, there have only been good things happening for my IBS. Soon you will feel the same way.

Again, WELCOME and don't be afraid or ashamed to open up; we all have been through some very trying times and its not over yet!!!

Lene
