Anyone ever tried the Gall bladder/Liver flushes found online?

I searched for something like this in the forums already but didn't find anything. I don't know if anyone's ever done this but a couple of years ago, shortly after the onset of these digestive problems I tried this thing.

I took Epson Salt at different intervals from about like 2pm to 6pm. And then some strange combination of olive oil and lemon juice and then you lay on your right side with your knees pulled up to your chest for the rest of the night. In the morning sometime I woke up w/ the major urge to have a BM and proceeded to pass about 25 to 30 large greenish yellow hard round things that I thought were stones. Many of them were as big as quarters (I swear I'm not making this up).

If you go online and search for Liver Flush or for natural ways to remove Gallstones you will find a number of different remedies like this that claim these things.

1) Ultra sounds don't always detect gallstones.
2) Gall stones aren't just in your gall bladder, they are also in you liver and other things (I can't remember what I read exactly as far as that part goes)
3) That you ARE passing gallstones and the reason you can do so is because the Epson Salt opens up the ducts real wide so everything can pass through.

Now, this is my concern. At the time I truly believed that what I passed were gallstones. They looked exactly like the pictures you will find on these sites. Unfortunately I didn't save any of them to show to my Dr. because every Dr. I told about it told me there was NO way they were gallstones, that it was medically and scientifically impossible for this to happen and that they must have been pieces of feces colored w/ bile. ????? They were very hard. Hard like stones. Very light in weight.

One of the websites I found has a Dr. claiming that they are not gallstones. He said he sent some of the stones from some people that had tried this to a lab and they tested them and they were "soap stones" ??????? He doesn't explain why you would have "soap" in your body, just says that if you leave the gallstones out in room tempeture for a few days they will dissolve. Then I found a another website claiming that the reason they dissolve is because of something to do w/ calcium and the olive oil and lemon juice breaking them down. I don't know.

Anyways..the point of this very long post is this...

Has anyone ever tried one of these flushes?

Do you think they are gallstones?

Do you think it's safe? Not to have the "stones" pass, I did it before w/ no problem, but the Epson Salt. I read somewhere that Epson Salt is REALLY destructive to your digestive system.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I have this pain below my right rib cage that hurts a LOT. Most often after I eat of course but sometimes just at random. It feels like really hot warm liquid is burning my skin right there. I had an Ultrasound of all my organs 2 days ago and they said I had no stones or obstructions and was just fine. That's what they always tell me. I don't know what else the pain up that high would be from. My IBS is characterized by C and LOT of bloating and gas and read on a post on this forum that gallbladder problems cause D not C. I also have Hep C so I thought it could be my liver but they said my liver is fine (for now, is how the Doc put it).

Sincerely,

Mallory

Mallory-

I have never heard of nor tried the flushes you refer to, but am taking a chemistry class this summer (for nursing school), so I looked up what Epsom Salt really is.

Chemically it is Magnesium Sulfate. I found more info about it at wedmd.com. There is some good information there. I can't get this direct link to work, but you can go to www.wedmd.com and type in either magnesium sulfate or epsom salt and it will come right up.

I am sorry I don't know more about the flushes or what came out of your system, but after working in a hospital for several years, I have not heard of someone being able to get rid of gall stones this way (doesn't mean it can't happen, I just haven't heard of it )

Anyway, I hope this info is helpful to you in some way.

I am stil having problems adjusting to gall bladder surgery after 9 months.

However before having surgery I tried a Chinese herb that was supposedly to relieve the pain caused by gall stones. However it didn't quite work as expected. It apparently moved them around a bit and caused more problems. Later I had my urologist who is Chinese translate and he stated that they were for dissolving gall stones and dangerous to take as they could very easily move a stone to the bile duct and then get stuck. He stated to throw them out immediately.

Hi, I don't know anything about the flushes but I had several gall bladder "attacks" which I actually thought were panick attacts! I would have chest pain, a hard time beathing, break out in a sweat and get dizzy. This happen 5 or 6 times in about 2 months, it was just before my wedding and the doctor said it was nerves and gave me vallium! Two weeks after the wedding I woke up at 3 am and thought I was having a heart attack(I'm 32 years old) the pain was SO bad I couldn't stand up! My husband rushed me to the ER, they did an ultra sound and said my gall bladder was full of stones. The pain was always in my chest in that soft spot just under your boobs. I have never heard of any one passing them all the way through before either. I also have Hep C and my liver is also fine for now! My IBS C does cause pain up high and on the sides sometimes.
