share your favourite food or drink brands

Our NZ, Australia and Canada sections really could do with some input!

Further entries always sought for US and UK too..

Don't be shy- email me sk@dnaNOSPAM.ie (delete NOSPAM)

Hi! How do I get a complete listing of the "safe" brands? I searched around the message board, but think I am missing something. Thanks!

Tescos has Tofutti!?! Didn't know that. Boy I love that shop. When they finally get round to stocking soy cheese I'll never shop anywhere else ever again!

But WHY have they changed the shape of the soy milk cartons?! They don't fit on my fridge shelf anymore!

Lol...Linz I hadnt realised theyd changed the shape of the soy milk...I buy the rice dream instead...soy doesnt agree too much with me...only in small doses! Its weird isnt it that some tescos have things that others dont...and yea mine definately has tofutti...so far Ive had the madagascan vanilla and double choc fudge...both gorgeous!!Oh and sinead my tescos also sells the cheezly soy cheese by Redwood...cheddar style...does yours not have that one linz? Its a bit high in fat but never bothered me...I use it to make pizzas! Oh and I went into my Holland and Barrett the other day and they sell...Tofutti Cream cheese(in various flavours) soy cheese slices and the cheezly range of soy cheese...there were 3 flavours of that...the cheddar one that I get in tescos, one with herbs and also a nacho style one(looks interesting - good one to put on home baked tortillas - will let you know if I try it)

Can you just send me the additions when you're done (instead of the whole list again)? That will make the formatting and stuff eaasier.

And THANK YOU!!!

Well its just in the fridges with the cheese...kind of just bunged in there...I think it was towards the end...Ive seen it in 2 of our tescos so Im sure theyll have it at urs if its a big one. I did only come across it purely by accident...it really isnt well labelled and its the only non dairy one there...so you may have to root around a bit. Also the tofutti icecreams Ive only seen in the tesco extras...I dont know if you have one of them...but the ones that sell tv's etc theyre with the icecreams and not labelled well again...I found that one by accident too and got majorly excited in the isle! Theyre in ben n jerry type small tubs....hope you find some!!

I have just got in from a walk around town with flatmates for fresh air(It is now 11.30pm and I know...we are crazy uni students...lol) and anyways I happened to nip into the main Leeds train station and boots was open...Id forgotton to mention a couple of things from there which I think are safe....

They have a few variations of Shapers crisps most have sweeteners in but the ready salted flavours dont and are perfectly safe as they only have between 3-5g fat per bag!

Also I have just bought a shapers cool mint nougat and dark chocolate bar....now I am gona list the ingredients so you can double check if this is safe but it seems so as its dairy free and low in fat etc...I bought 2...have just eaten one and it was gorgeous...so here goes...

Per bar : 3.3g fat, 90 calories, 0.4g fibre

Ingredients: plain chocolate(33%)(Sugar,cocoa mass,cocoa butter,emulsifier(soya lethicin,flavouring) glucose syrup, Bulking agent(polydextrose) water, crisped cereals(containing rice,wheat,maize,malt,raising agent(sodium bicarbonate) emulsifier(E471) Hydrogenated Vegetable oil,Egg Albumen,Flavourings (plain chocolate contains cocoa solids 47%minimum)

Please say safe...lol....

natalie- haven't seen that cheese in Tesco, but my local one is a disaster, it doesn't even stock rice milk or turkey bacon There is a very big one that I have gone to once that I might take the trip to again in search of it. So far the only soy cheese I have tried is the sliced mozzarella from Tofutti and it is beyond disgusting, it tastes like plastic. (tofutti cream cheese is good though and my soy parmesan is pretty normal)

Icecream wise I have seen the tofutti on in a HFS but its hard to get to with no parking, so I will have to make Padhraig circle the block some day!

Hi Sinead. I have a couple of small Aussie additions. VITASOY make a soy milk called so milky(it's awesome, tastes almost like real milk) and also fresh chocolate, strawberry and tropical milks.
TOFUTTI-soy cheese slices (mozzarella, american, roasted garlic)and also tofu "better than cream cheese" and also tofu sour cream.
SIMPLY BETTER FOODS-Soy cheeses, variety of flavours
SWEET WILLIAM-make a yummy dairy free orange chocolate.
ETA 5 STAR, MEADOW LEA milk free, COLES Sunspread salt and milk free, TABLELANDS dairy free are all safe margarines.
ORGRAN make heaps of stuff including self saucing pudding in lemon and chocolate, a chocolate muffin mix and a lemon and poppyseed muffin mix and all are gluten, wheat, dairy and nut free. They also have rice pastas, a gravy mix, a variety of rice crispbreads, canned spaghetti, fruit filled bars, cookies (including chocolate), egg replacer, a pizza and pastry mix, and a coating and stuffing mix. All gluten, wheat, dairy and nut free. Some things do contain egg white.
BLUE LOTUS FOODS make a dessert called DeliSoy soy dessert. I think that's about it for now.

Is there a new list that I can print out somewhere and I am missing it??

The only list I can find is the 'sticky' one at the beginning of the board.

I ADORE these, but I am not sure if they are IBS safe, so I'll list the ingrediants:

Basmati rice, peas, onions, red bell peppers, carrots, green beans, baby corn, modified corn starch, water, soy fibre, water chestnusts, canola oil, tapioca starch, lima beans, potato flour, chick pea powder, wheat gluten, defatted soy flour, dehydrated tomato flakes, sea salt, paprika, carrageenan, dehydrated parsley.

The ingrediants sounds kinda IBS unsafe, but I don't remember ever having any problems digesting them, and they are quite tasty.

Presedent's Choice (Too Good To Be True)
9-vegetable patty

(it comes in many different varieties/styles, though I stick with the regular, or the Indian flavored ones).

I know some people have issues with carrageenan, but my line is if they don't hurt you then keep eating them! with Soluble fibre like bread or rice too though!
