Anyone ever heard of this? I found this on the Internet yesterday.

This is supposed to be a colon cleanse, and since rice is ok for IBS-ers I wanted to check here first before I considered trying it. Heather, if you get a chance to read this, I'd love your input

After reading a tip on an IBS Web-site (I can't find the site any more, dang it!) to chew food slowly, the Raw Rice Diet was recommended.

Chew 1/4 to 1/3 of raw rice in the morning on an empty stomach. You basically take a palmful of rice and chew it until it liquefys in your mouth, then swallow (takes 4-6 minutes per mouthful). You should finish the entire amount of rice in 20-30 minutes. Don't take anything by mouth for at least two hours, except for a little water if desired. Repeat process in the morning for 10 days, and five days off. Repeat cycle as needed.

The author said that it was a great natural colon cleanse, the rice will keep you filled up, and it's safe for IBSers.

I'm still searching for the Web link to this, and will post it when I find it.

Thanks all!!
julie

Hi - This basically sounds like a way to use rice as a soluble fiber supplement. It would work, though I'm not sure it would be too fun or tasty to chew raw rice like that. I'd want to take a good amount of water with the rice to be safe.

I'm not sure this would work any better than a regular supplement like Benefiber, or better than simply eating cooked rice.
