Ok! No more whining and complaining! (I hope) It's time to GET BETTER!
1st off, went to a new endocrinologist today....what a FABULOUS DOCTOR!!! he wants me tested for hypoglycemia/early onset diabetes, he discovered my left thyroid is granular (and he said I may have an autoimmune disease), and I'm getting a thyroid ultrasound next week. This man is on top of his game! And I FINALLY found a doc that is willing to listen to me...and even agrees! It may be my thyroid causing my sinusitis (I've been saying this all along). I know plenty of you ladies out there have thyroid problems. If you have any diet-related suggestions, or just thyroid advice in general, please let me know!
I've got my tea (Stash Licorice Spice...it's yummy even without splenda...my sugar of choice), and I'm drinking it (it's not just sitting there like i sometimes does cause I lose interest).
I've got the heating pad on my back.
I have a plan to limit my dairy intake to once a day until the meds are out of my system enough to eliminate completely (I don't have that kind of willpower with these cravings run amuck).
NO MORE SUGAR!
I got really sick earlier today. I still have major pain in my throat from acid reflux (the meds cause acid reflux...but what I'm eating and how much is NOT helping me any).
I've gained about 15 pounds in the past 2 weeks from these meds. I know I will lose it just as quickly...but still...it's not healthy for your body and it IS causing me problems.
The experience I had earlier (and am still enduring) is quite painful and scary. I'm in AGONY right now! My throat ACHES and the acid is making me not want to swallow.
This too shall pass.
So, in the meantime, I've decided to look at all of this and try to figure out a way to HELP MYSELF.
My first step is drinking tea. 2nd step is heating pad. 3rd step I told hubby he would come with me to the store so I don't pass out there alone and so I don't buy anything I shouldn't eat. 4th step is this post and sharing this post with OA.
Now this is where all of you come in: I need help with my diet! I can't eat bread, sugar, or gluten. I am not in the presence of mind to make complicated things and try out new stuff (like making bread from different kinds of flour). I need quick and easy things I can eat that will get me through.
I'm not so sure I have IBS. I'm not sure I don't either. Things I DO know: No gluten, wheat, sugar, cucumbers, raw onions, big meals, dairy is ok from time to time (the problem right now is that I am overeating everything from the meds), and no carbs by themselves cause of my bloodsugar (so, no potato without protein to go with it or my bloodsugar gets out of whack.....in fact, if I take out all sugar, even fruit, I'm best off altogether...but that's a long-term goal, not for right now).
I have puffed millet cereal. So that's one thing. I like steamed vegies, so that's another. Any other suggestions on how to get me back on track would be super duper!
I know I'm asking for diet help that may not be IBS specific...and I hope that's ok with everyone.
Thanks for listening and for your advice!
Love, Ruchie

Hi Ruchie--I also have autoimmune thyroid disease--called Hashimoto Thyroiditis--no biggie-I just take a tiny thyroid hormone pill every day--it gives your body the hormones it needs to regulate metabolism--good for weight management. I follow the IBS diet now, never did have a diet for the thyroid problem..hope things work out well for you. carol
